Former President Trump expressed his worries about his legal problems on Truth Social. He accused the Department of Justice (DOJ) and investigators of being unfair against him.Â
It seems like the DOJ might soon file charges against him for what happened during the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot and his attempts to change the 2020 election results.
Trump said he got a letter telling him he’s under investigation, and he has four days to decide if he’ll go before a grand jury to defend himself.
Trump and his friends have strongly criticized the Department of Justice (DOJ) and special counsel Jack Smith. They believe the investigations and charges against Trump are motivated by politics. On Sunday, Trump once again made these attacks.
He wrote on social media, “Whenever you see these Radical Lunatics and their partners in the Fake News Media talking about the ‘Trials and Tribulations’ of President Donald J. Trump, please remember that it is all a coordinated HOAX… to STEAL ANOTHER ELECTION through PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT like never before in the U.S.”
In another post, Trump called Attorney General Merrick Garland, Jack Smith, and Democrat prosecutors in New York and Atlanta “Campaign Managers” for President Joe Biden, whom he called the most corrupt and incompetent President in U.S. history.
Trump is dealing with charges in Manhattan for changing business records connected to payments made to Stormy Daniels, an actress in adult films. He also faces charges in federal court in Florida for not handling classified documents properly, which could break the Espionage Act.
Smith is in charge of both investigations and the 2020 election efforts. He said the charges against Trump are very serious and defended the DOJ and FBI’s actions in the cases, answering criticism from Trump and his supporters.
Trump complained about the money spent on investigations into him, especially Smith’s investigation. A recent DOJ report revealed that Smith spent $5.4 million in the first five months of his investigation, and other DOJ agencies involved spent $3.8 million more.
The report also showed that Robert Hur, the special counsel investigating President Biden’s handling of classified documents, spent $615,000, with assisting agencies spending $570,000.
