On Monday, July 17, the Supreme Court of Georgia was noted to have dismissed a legal bid from the ex-President of the United States, Donald Trump, to shut down the long going Fulton County criminal probe. This has been in an attempt to overturn the defeat in Georgia in the 2020 election.
The court has provided a statement in a five-page opinion regarding Trump’s inability to demonstrate “extraordinary circumstances” that do require intervention of time. Donald Trump has been noted to ask the Justice of Georgia’s Supreme Court to dismiss a wide amount of evidence that has been collected so far from the Fulton County investigations.
Additionally, Donald Trump has also been recognized to plead to the Court regarding the blocking of the usage of the evidence from the investigation by the state prosecutors for future criminal or civil cases.
The decision to dismiss the bid of the ex-president to remove the probe was unanimous. In spite, the nine members of the Court have been appointed by the Republican governors.
Legal Challenges Of Trump In Fulton County
Donald Trump has legal challenges associated with the Fulton County criminal investigations, which are still pending to be trialed in the court. He has also been noted to have denied all his wrongdoings and claims related to the prosecutors are only trying to investigate the case to stop him from winning the 2024 Presidential race.
The investigation also passed a major milestone last week regarding the power of the grand jury to approve possible accusations. A special purpose jury has been formed for the trial of the Fulton County criminal probe, which heard 73 witnesses. These also included White House officials who have served during the Trump era, lawyers, counselors, election experts, and Georgia officials.
