The Second Republican presidential primary debate just took place. Republican Candidates for the 2024 election took part in it. Tensions were high. Some quite weird subjects seemed to take the center stage. Seven candidates boasted of strange “achievements” as they struggled to hold on to public’s attention.
Much to his supporters’ dismay, President Donald Trump did not attend the debate and just skipped the televised event. On the other hand this created quite the opportunity for the other candidates to make strong cases, some would say.
According to Reuter’s legal section, one peculiar moment of the debate saw a dispute going on over curtains.
Senator Tim Scott of the United States took to criticizing the former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. He stated that the former Governor had gotten curtains worth $50,000. The curtains were apparently for the residence of the U.S. ambassador in New York.
According to Senator Tim, the incident had taken place when served as an ambassador to the U.N. during Trump’s Presidentship.
Ex-Governor Haley on the other hand responded by saying that the curtains were actually bough during the Barrack Obama’s Presidentship. The discussion later turned into utter into chaos, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis joining in.
Another rather odd statement came from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. He chose to say something quite surprising when talking about education. ‘
He mentioned that President Joe Biden was allegedly “sleeping with a member of the teachers’ union,” referring to Jill Biden, who is a teacher. As a comeback, Former Vice President Mike Pence quickly stated, “I’ve been sleeping with a teacher for 38 years,”. Pence’s wife, Karen Pence is a teacher.
