Donald Trump, the ex-president of the United States, is being charged with two separate criminal charges.
He has also been observed to pay millions of dollars to a writer after being convicted of sexual abuse.
Trump is also being investigated for the purpose of the alleged overturn regarding the 2020 defeat in the presidential elections.
The legal cases that Trump is facing and is being investigated for prior to being the front-runner Republican for the 2024 elections are stated below.
Donald Trump is currently facing a ‘second indictment.’ This is the historically first indictment that is being charged against a US president. Trump is facing charges for the purpose of removal of confidential government documents from the White House.
Trump is blamed for the unauthorized retention of national defense papers that have led to the obstruction of justice. This has been stated by the attorney presenting Trump.
However, the indictment of Donald Trump has not been a public affair yet.
The charges related to Trump’s removal of confidential government files have been noticed after searching his Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago.
Last August, Trump was charged with the removal of 11,0000 documents, which were seized. Among them, 10 files were termed as classified and identified as ‘Top Secret.’
We have very limited knowledge regarding the information that is being contained in the files removed by Trump. However, whatever the content may be, it has been considered classified as it has the ability to disrupt national security if made public.
The seriousness of the legal issue
According to US laws, it is an offense of keeping possession of classified and unauthorized documents.
A conviction related to the same could lead to jail time, even though it is highly unusual for senior citizens to get a prison sentence.
Additionally, Trump has also been charged for the payment of $130,000 to former adult film star Stormy Daniels.
This charge was against Trump while he was in the first indictment in April.
Daniel has informed that she and Trump indulged in sex acts. However, Trump is in denial regarding the same.
Daniels has also agreed to receive the money from Trump’s ex-attorney before the 2016 elections in exchange for her silence.
On the other hand, Donald Trump’s family business, the Trump Organisation, is being investigated by the prosecutors of the state.
The attorney general of New York has been involved in a civil investigation regarding the fraud that might have been conducted by the Trump Organization. The frauds that are being investigated involve the deceits that have been conducted over a period of several decades.
Furthermore, a criminal investigation is also being conducted against Trump for similar incidents.
